Join the All-School Design Call List
The School of Art’s Communications Office is assembling our annual list of students interested in being placed on a call list to receive opportunities for small one-time design jobs and to produce email publication graphics. These one-time jobs are open to MFA students in all areas of study, and graphics can take any form as long as the requirements laid out in each job description are met.
When a new job becomes available, an email will go out to this call list with the job description, due date, and pay rate. Pay ranges from $75–$300 per job and images/materials must be submitted at the provided Dropbox link before payment is released. In the interest of fairness, the first student to respond to each job with their availability to produce the materials by the listed deadline will be hired—except in special cases for exceptionally big jobs, in which case we might ask for links to past work or an intended design concept before commissioning.
(A little more about how this list works: When you receive a commission, you’re removed from the call list for the remainder of the semester, and possibly the academic year depending on how many students sign up for this list / express interest in creating something for the School. Our goal is to make sure everyone who signs up is eventually commissioned!)
Reply to the email that will go out on August 26, or email Assistant Director of Communications Lindsey Mancini to join the All-School Graphics Call List at any point throughout the academic year if you’d like to be placed on this call list in the future.

Looking for a student interested in working with me on a book project - inspired by the format of McLuhan’s “Medium is the Massage.” It’s about what I call “the fight to stay human.” The book intends to make a statement about what we have at risk in the age of machine intelligence. Topics like awe, practice, empathy, humor, and embodiment figured prominently. I’m looking for someone who has visual design skills as expressed in graphic design and photo curation. Experience with book design is a plus but not essential.

The David Swensen Gallery at Yale Investments is offering a unique opportunity for a Yale artist to exhibit work in a dynamic new space. Interested grad and undergrad artists are encouraged to submit a proposed curatorial statement and portfolio that reflects whatever inspires them. We are open to art in a wide variety of media and the exhibition may also feature work from multiple artists, but we kindly request that all pieces are appropriate for a public office space. The works, subject to approval by the gallery team, will be displayed at 265 Church St, beginning on or around January 1, 2026. The exhibition will conclude in December 2026, though the Swensen Gallery can be flexible with individual timeline needs.

The artist will meet with the gallery team every two weeks, and be responsible for the curation, planning, budgeting, and logistics of the work(s) shown, as well as writing any necessary texts (e.g. labels, brief curatorial statement). We’re seeking submissions for a group art exhibition presented in conjunction with NOIR FEST 2025 at the Yale University Afro-American Cultural Center. Curated by Olori Lolade Siyonbola and Jasmine Marshall, this exhibition will showcase visual artworks during the festival weekend.
NOIR FEST is a radical film and media experience highlighting visionary creators across the diaspora—artists, technologists, and storytellers working at the intersections of liberation and imagination. This year’s theme is Art as Cultural Software. We believe that stories are not just reflections of our world—they are the
operating systems that shape it. Through film, visual art, sound, design, and technology, we can rewrite the code of culture itself.
We’re seeking visual artists whose work speaks to this year’s theme. The exhibition will take place during Harvard-Yale Weekend (11/21-23), one of the most high-profile cultural moments in the Northeast with 50,000+ attendees.
Please note: this call is for visual art submissions, not film entries (the film submission deadline has closed). All submissions are due by November 7, 2025 at 11:59pm ET. Selected artists will be contacted by November 10. Artists are responsible for delivery and pickup of their artwork. Apply here >

Submit your artwork to our MENACC Art Exhibition titled “Traces of Ourselves.” We are excited to reimagine our salon space as a creative hub featuring student artwork under the theme “What Does It Mean to Be MENA?” This exhibition invites MENA-identifying students to share their voices, visions, and creativity through transforming the salon into a space of dialogue, reflection, and celebration.
As part of the ongoing beautification of the MENACC salon, selected student artwork will be hung up in the space, turning it into a vibrant reflection of our community’s identity and creativity.
Rather than offering a single definition, this showcase highlights the many ways MENA identity can be experienced and expressed: through heritage, memory, humor, resilience, tradition, or reinvention. We welcome a wide range of submissions, from paintings and photographs to textiles, digital art, and poetry, with each one adding a new perspective to the ongoing conversation of identity.
Each student may submit one piece, with the title, medium, artist’s name, and frame dimensions included. Please note that we will only be accepting 14 submissions for this exhibition. The selected pieces will remain on display throughout the entire semester, so we kindly ask that you submit artwork you’re comfortable lending for that duration.
While artists are encouraged to join us in the salon to represent their work, attendance is not required.
Deadline for submissions: October 27, 2025. Submit here >

The Law, Environment & Animals Program at Yale Law School (law.yale.edu/animals) is inviting applications for its 2025-26 LEAP Student Fellows Program. Applications are due on Monday, September 22.
About LEAP:
Launched in 2019, the Law, Environment & Animals Program (LEAP) at Yale Law School is a multidisciplinary “think-and-do tank” dedicated to developing new strategies to address industrialized animal cruelty and its impacts on the living world, and to drawing attention to the questions of conscience and law raised by humanity’s treatment of animals. To this end, LEAP leads and coordinates a diverse program of activities that serve students and scholars at Yale and that contribute to defining, expanding, and advancing the field of animal law and policy. LEAP’s programming includes academic and experiential courses; legal work on climate change and animal agriculture and other research initiatives; active support for student research projects and publications; and regular lectures, panels, and events. Learn more at our website: law.yale.edu/animals.
About the LEAP Student Fellows Program:
Each academic year, LEAP selects a group of Student Fellows, including both Yale Law School students and other Yale graduate and professional school students. The goal of the Student Fellows Program is to support the academic and professional goals of Yale students interested in helping animals, to further empower these students to do impactful work while at Yale, and to build a robust and fun community of students and scholars interested in animal law and policy on campus.
During the academic year, LEAP Student Fellows receive support from LEAP faculty and staff to work on a project related to animal law, policy, and ethics. The projects can take a myriad of forms, such as academic research (either with LEAP or independently); a policy proposal; submission of comments on proposed regulations; an op-ed or popular press article; or another research or creative project of the Fellow’s choosing. Credit or pay is available for some projects. LEAP Fellows shape and participate in the life of the LEAP program in a variety of ways, including helping to envision, organize, and advertise the events that LEAP hosts during the academic year. LEAP Fellows are asked, at minimum, to work on one project of their own choosing, to attend two LEAP events per semester, and to help spread the word about LEAP events and initiatives on campus.
We welcome applications from all Yale graduate and professional school students. No past experience or expertise in animal law is necessary.
To apply, please complete this form with a resume and brief statement of interest by MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 22. If you have questions about the fellowship or application process, please contact LEAP Litigation and Program Fellow Naomi Jennings (naomi.jennings@yale.edu).

Two Yale undergrads, Erica Yu and Karinne Tennenbaum, of Taking Flight—an educational initiative that aims to inspire a new generation of climate leaders through birding—are applying for a Saybrook College Creative Performing Arts (CPA) grant ($500) for a visual arts project called Tetraglass (name tentative).
Birds are unique in that they have tetrachromatic vision, allowing them to see ultraviolet light. Unfortunately, seeing more does not aid them in avoiding windows. The United States Geological Service (USGS) estimates that up to two billion birds are killed annually in window collisions. With Tetraglass, they aim to raise awareness of this issue by designing a tetrahedron-shaped, glass mosaic sculpture that memorializes bird mortalities.
Erica and Karinne are searching for 1-2 enthusiastic graduate student volunteer mentors from the Yale School of Art to advise them in this endeavor. Please reach out to Erica via email (erica.yu@yale.edu) directly and cc Karinne (karinne.tennenbaum@yale.edu) by Sept. 3 with interest!

For our eleventh edition, the Vassar Review seeks to address an era of bearing witness. We live in an economy of believability, where testimonies are not taken at face value—they must be maintained through labor. A testimony can voice experiences of injustice; testimonial narrative can, as Cuban author Miguel Barnet articulates in his theory of the testimonio, reveal the urgency to make an event or a situation of oppression public. However, the believability of one’s testimony can also reflect their power and resources; it can reflect the ability to wield affect and emotion in one’s favor. Can one’s temper strengthen their testimony, or render it obsolete? How are temper and emotions facets of writing that can distort, establish, or influence the truth?
We accept a range of work including poetry, prose, sculpture, soundscapes, performance, scripts, digital media, and beyond that relates to this year’s theme. Bilingual texts and excerpts from longer dramatic works such as screenplays and graphic novels are also considered. We do not accept works previously published in print but will consider previously exhibited visual work. Simultaneous submissions are allowed but require that artists notify editors if the work has been accepted elsewhere. All contributors retain copyright over their individual works.
The submission deadline is January 15, 2026. Full information & link to apply >

The New Art School Modality explores and brings to life new forms of teaching, learning, art production, and impact. The school is grounded in an ethos of collaboration, experimentation, and improvisation.
The New Art School Modality offers a revised version of the art school model, methods, and procedures. It is conceived as a different take on, or an alternative approach to, art school education, one that has fewer guard rails and institutional protocols. There’s intentionally less hand-holding and the apparatus is reduced, all of this as a nod to prior historical moments when making art and being an artist were less reliant on costly infrastructures.
The New Art School Modality will instantiate courses at various “perches” worldwide. Courses are hybrid, online and in-person. Unlike other art schools, it is not place based or centric.
